The customer's innovative power also inspires IGS
The Customer
Keplinger GmbH (www.keplinger.at), a timber wholesaler based in Traun, has a stake in Holzpartner GmbH, based in Villach, and Holzland GmbH in Dortmund, together with eight other Austrian timber trading companies. The company, founded in 1928 as a sawmill in Linz, is characterised above all by the fact that it offers qualified employees a secure job and leaves plenty of room for sustainable ideas to develop. One look at the company building shows that Keplinger is based on innovation: In 2018, a 600 kWp photovoltaic system with 2000 modules was installed on an area of 3350 square meters. With this system, the company is mathematically self-sufficient.
The Collaboration
Keplinger has relied on the expertise of IGS in the ERP domain since 1991 – and on the optimisation of business processes. The timber wholesaler with a broad product portfolio was the first to introduce IGS financial accounting and implemented the workflow-supported process of incoming invoices back in 2010. Meter-long, empty wall units show that Keplinger has been living the paperless office concept for years. IGS recently modernised the merchandise management system via its graphic interface IGW. The close business relationship, beginning in the early 1990s, resulted in a real impetus for development.
The Milestones
At Keplinger, sales are 100 percent digitally mapped – from billing modalities to discounts. The process organisation, from the enquiry to the billing, has been digitised, and the web platforms for commercial and pre-finished goods have also been integrated. When it comes to purchasing, the digitised procurement process mirrors all processes from warehouse to individual customer requirements. The warehouse is also organised digitally: All products have a barcode, and there is also mobile data recording of all processes from incoming goods to inventory.
